Whitesands Bay

North West Pembrokeshire, near St David’s, SA62 6PS

The beach is located about two miles west of St. Davids and about one mile south of St Davids Head. Whitesands is a large sandy beach at low tide, but the bay shrinks considerably when the tide comes in. It’s very popular with tourists and surfers as well as dog walkers. From here it’s just a short walk to the secluded and less crowded Porthmelgan Beach, but if you fancy something more challenging there’s a rugged circular walk around St David’s head.

Dog restrictions 1st May to 30th September.

Car park by the beach. Charges may apply.

For Dogs in the St David’s area you can go to the far-end of Newgale beach or there is a smaller beach at Caerfai for dogs too.

Hi we are planning on coming camping in May and I note that you have dog restrictions, does this mean that you can’t take your dog, at all, anywhere on the beach?

    Thank you

      Hi Clare,

Yes dog restrictions apply to the full length of the beach between May and September.

      Best wishes
      Dog Rover!
