Freshwater West Beach

South Pembrokeshire, Castlemartin, near Pembroke, SA71 5HW

‘Fresh West’ is wide, sandy and backed by high sheltered sand dunes. It’s famed for being wild and windy, especially in the winter months, and is a favourite of surfers as well as dogs. It also has the added benefit of a fresh water stream for dogs to drink from. Coast path walking in this area is at its best, and if you fancy the 9 mile trek to West Angle Bay then you will be rewarded with spectacular views, but it’s a real roller-coaster of a route!

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that the beach lies adjacent to a MOD live firing range at Castlemartin.

This is a brilliant site, thanks for all of the hard work that has gone into it. We have just finished a week long stay in Tenby with our Cockerpoo and managed to find a new beach everyday thanks to your website. Perfect!
